Rockstar

Rockstar, one simple word creates such a huge image in front of Eyes & the very first thing you can imagine of a RockStar is undoubtedly the “GUITAR”. It’s every boys dream to have this toy & able to play in exact same way it’s been played in the rock concerts. I was nothing different; just another boy who was keen to play guitar since the famous Tune of “O O Jaane Jaana”…from Pyar kiya to Darna Kya….!!!

I somehow had managed to borrow a Guitar from my Sisters friend when in school. The first few days was just posing with Guitar rather than playing it. But like the famous Marathi phrase “ Navyache Nau divas” it was lying in the corner after couple of days as I was busy with school & friends.

Just when my Sisters friend asked for the guitar, that was the time I remember I had a guitar & I was going to learn it. But the party was over & I had to return the guitar to her.
Was very sad with the departure of Guitar, but was again School life, you have lot to do those days so again School, Family & Friends.

Social Gatherings/ Events are the times when there is one such person in every college, school, institute etc. who will perform Guitar live on stage. That’s the time I have Deja-Vu, & the feeling is like “ Apan Guitar Shikayla pahije hota rao”. But this feeling is Ephemeral. Time goes on & as always I overlook the Guitar.

This isn’t my Story, as I mentioned every Boy wants a Sports Bike & the very next thing he desires is Guitar. My parents always say, you should be good in one Sport, One Music instrument, but the jeopardy of my current generation is “We are Jack of All & Master of None”.

Times was flying by, I was pursuing my Engineering. Year by Year during the Annual Social gathering/ Cultural program, there was a Band of students who use to perform live on stage. As always I was in the Mob shouting, encouraging in-short enjoying the moment, but somewhere down the heart still thinking if I could have learning guitar in school time “Aaj Me samne Stage pe hota”,,,,!!!! But again the feeling was Ephemeral. Gathering was over & I was back to daily routine.

Post College the game of real life begins. All are scattered like set of cards due to job, business n number of reasons. You now have new set of friend’s new colleagues. So meeting your old pals now happen only on occasions. It’s quality time when you meet you old friends & revisit you past.

It was November 2011,it was Saturday & couple of my school friends had gathered at one our friends home. There was a long discussion on how everyone has changed & how life is treating everyone. After a while we decided to go for a movie. Initially no one agreed but convincing your old mates isn’t hard. We had 2 options Adventures of Tin-Tin , the finest animated movie that’s what we had heard & 2nd option was RockStar Starring Ranvir Sing & the main thing @ it was the music composed by A.R.Rehman.

After several round of discussion we decided to go for Rockstar. So we were 6-7 friends ready- steady for the movie. We went to the theater & it was a pack house. Thanks to a friend he had already got the tickets before we could reach the theater. There were 2 posters outside the theater One was of Ranvir Sing close up with a Burning Guitar on his side and the other was Ranbirs Backpose with Guitar in his hand.

All I can see was the Guitar, the first thing in my mind was the word “Burning Desire”.

We had 1 row of Balcony; the atmosphere in the theater was just Wow. There was just college public all over the place.

After few advertisements the movie kicked off. I had these huge goose bumps as I heard the sound of Guitar Strings. I already had the sound tracks of Rockstar before I watched the movie. Don’t know why but I dint even like a single track from the entire album. But when I heard the same on Dolby Digital sound & on 70mm screen, I was just in love with it. Guitar-Guitar & just Guitar. It was 3 mesmerizing hours of Pure Guitar show. Story Perfect, Cast Perfect, Sound Perfect , Background Music perfect, Vocal perfect & overall it was a musical journey.

After the movie each & every person in the movie might had a A.R.Rehman hang-over. I was like, just give me a Guitar & I will play it hard & sound. We later had a cup of tea & all went back to their home.

As I ride my bike back home all I can remember was Strings & songs from Rock-star. I was just mumbling the tracks from the movie. After reaching home the very first thing I did was to update the songs on my I-Pod. Now it was my favorite playlist. Next day I was travelling back to Pune for Job. Sunday was like a Rockstar Day, Rockstar on Music system, Rockstar in Car, and Rockstar in I-Pod. I used to travel in night so that I can spend the entire day with family & friends back to my native. During the night travel it was again Rockstar playlist for the entire journey from Kolhapur-Pune.

Next day in office, even though it was a Busy Monday, the entire day was spent in search of the lyrics, Guitar, location details of shoot of Rockstar. As I was searching the same online, one of my collogue said that he can play Guitar (Actually He was an Guitarist) & also takes Guitar Classes. Mera dil to Garden Garden ho Gaya. I was over the Moon. Life really rocks when you get the thing right in front of your eyes which you are in search of.

He said he has 6 acoustic guitars & 1 Electric Guitar. I was liked hanged for a moment, just imagining playing a Electric Guitar. He said he can help me buy a Guitar if I want to learn & have one. Nek Kaam me deri kyo. The very same day in the evening we went to the Musical instrument shop to buy a Guitar. It was awesome feeling entering the shop as I can see musical instruments with such a vast variety. I was very excited to see the Guitar hanged all the walls. As my colleague took one guitar & tuned it & played one Chord on it. It was Pappa kehte he bada kaam karega…!!!

I hurriedly took the guitar from him & grabbed it the exact way as he did. I had heard this lot but now I knew what is feeling on being on Cloud 9 as I was experiencing it. I took the plucker and plucked few strings, I was so happy as if I have learned the guitar & now I am the new Lead guitarist of a Band. My colleague checked few more guitars & finalized one of them. I happily paid for it & carried it with pride back home.

Even though I dint knew how to play, I was holding & playing the way I can. I was so damn excited with the guitar I broke one of the string on the opening day. Next day I had to buy 1 set of strings. I joined the class after the purchase of new strings and here I was within a week able to play my first ever track on lead tabs “Limbo Rock”.

Thanks to internet I am able to get the latest tabs & chords for the latest movies. Now I play guitar whenever I get time.

Sometimes I don’t believe that I actually bought a Guitar the very next day I watched the movie Rockstar……!!!!!

Believe me playing Guitar is such a relief. It’s actually the best stress busting therapy. I m still a learner but m 1 step closer to my dream.

Another Lesson of Life is "Every journey begins with first step".
