नाग्या

Becoming a father is the greatest joy on earth, truly priceless. I do remember the day, the time & the very moment.

U see, it’s always shown in movies a red bulb outside the operation theatre, this bulb is there to see how fast your heart can pump & sometimes makes u miss a stroke as well.

I was waiting in the room, along with my mother & mother-in-law.

Just as we got the news from Sister, मुलगा झाला ,,,,,My mom was in tears.(Typical mother reaction) She hugged me so tightly.

The very moment I called my father (who although dint show his stress, but actually was), he was so happy about the news ( U know voice tells the emotion of person & I can feel that even he was in tears). He had kept the driver was on stand-by mode , the moment I called he was on his way.

Seeing the new born was just mesmerizing & I was happy to See Nilam-my wife smiling (Her smile said it all).

My mother was a Grandma & so was I Mama long time back, when I was 10th standard. I am blessed with 1 cute Niece & 2 mischievous Nephews.

So this was my parents 4th time of becoming Grand-parents.

As all do, Grand-parents share a very cute relation……its grand in every single way.

My mother had already decided the name for their grandson & so was he named "चिन्मय "

My mother said she always wanted to name the grandchildren name, but its different case with daughters children as there are some limitation.

But in this case, its my grandson & I have the final authority ( No one questions her, not even my father).

As I often write, Time as always runs by its pace, its just the situation makes us feel it being faster.

Chinmay was growing up with her mother & grand-parents in Kolhapur yes offcourse I was there but on weekends.

Sometime I wonder, we work to secure our future & waste our present in doing so......Is it worth....!!!

But that’s Life & that’s the way it is rt now.

Chinmay after some consultation with my parents is with me these days in Pune.

We wear Same EAR RING: Like Father like Son

And also joined play school as well.

I visit Kolhapur every alternate weekend, just to have quality time with family & more importantly my parents wish to see Chinmay.

Since college days, I have a habit to call home if m getting late & since the day m working a call just after having lunch & before bed.

Now Chinmay has joined the party, He talks with everyone for a long time now.

Chinmay is very mischievous kid ( all parents thing the same about there child ).

He is been called by a different name by everyone.

  • Pappa calls him नाग्या
  • Mother calls him गम्पा
  • My sister calls him बाबु & Elder sister calls him चंपाकुळी .
But Chinmay has done a reverse way, now he calls them by the name they use to call him.

It has become there identify now as wherever Chinmay goes tells everyone his आजी आजोबा & आत्या name.

His favourite बड-बड rhyme was"

"खबडक खबडक घोडोबा
घोड्यावर बसले लाडोबा
लाडोबाच लाड करतंय कोण
आजी आजोबा आत्या दोन  "

Often son is compared with parents for his looks but in Chinmays case, he has a Body figure (बांधा ) exactly like his grand father.

Same wrist, same shoulders, same tummy and so on,,,,, 8 out of 10 say Ekdam Senior Yadav looks.

Also Chinmay has a habit of holding his hand backwards like my father does.

Its total chaos when we have all the sibling all together.

So I was telling @ Chinmays telephonic skills, he has hands-on Tab with multi-tasking additional enhancement.

When I call back home, he daily talks with Aaji Ajoba using a head-phone.

Tells them a lot a stories & so on.

It was a Sunday night & I was on phone with my father, when Chinmay ran to me & said I want to talk to Naagya.

He said "नाग्या उद्या मला school ला सोडायला Skoda घेऊन ये...!!!"

Dont know why he said so, but kept on telling the same to my father.

I told him Skoda is out for servicing &  will be coming back home after 2 days.

Chinmay listened & reacted as if he knew I was lying & he smiled & said "नाग्या उद्या ये मी झोपतो आता...!!!"

Well it was a routing talk then with my parents. I usually sleep late night after listening stories from Chinmay.

Next day Monday bluessssss.....No one wanted to leave the Bed.

Chinmay is not an early riser (like me :)), it takes lot of efforts to get him ready & make him drink a glass of milk.

Like every day Nilam was ready with My Tiffin by 9am & Chinmay was, like he always does having some fun before he goes to school.

At 9:00am I got a call from my father,,,, Strange for me as he never calls so early.

He said " चिन्मय ची शाळा किती वाजता असते ९ का ९:३०....???

I replied 9:30 why what happened....... He was like " बरा आहे चा ठेव मी आलोय पुण्याला, खाली आहे पार्किंग मध्ये आलोच...!!!

I was like,,,,,,Goose bumps was the feeling & dint knew what to say, I called Nilam & said Pappa have came to Pune just to drop Chinmay to school.

He came home & Chinmay ran to him & said "नाग्या Skoda आणलास काय.....!!!!"

Chinmay with his beloved Skoda

My father had came all the way from Kolhapur to Pune- 250 kilometers just to drop Chinmay to school which is hardly 200 meters from my apartment.

This is what grand parents love is all about

Chinmay was so Happy that his Naagya has came & he will be droping him in Skoda to School.

My father had planned some work as he was in Pune & immediately left my home.

I call my mother, " पप्पांचा काय विषय .?? She repiled " चिन्मय म्हणला नाग्या Skoda घेऊन School ला सोडायला ये,,,,,पप्पा लगेच सकाळी उठून ५ ला Starter मारला Skoda चा ".

Chinmay had a very good day & in the evening when all children gather to play, he was telling all,
 माझे पप्पा अल्ते Skoda घेऊन मला School ला सोडायला ....!!!!!

Chinmay calls me "बाबा" & Nilam "आई  " & just because I call my parents Mummy-Pappa so does he.

My father was back home even before I reached home from office.

So here is a Grand father who travelled all the way 250 kilometres & 4 hours to drop his Grand-son to school to full fill his grandsons wish.

I Had heard this before a lot of times before , but today knew what it meant:

Grand parents are the one with Silver in there Hair & GOLD in their Heart.
